There was a strong police presence and activity throughout Cyprus last night, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, thirteen individuals were arrested for various offenses, including illegal residence in the Republic, drunkenness, causing a disturbance and disturbing the peace, carrying a knife, illegal possession of drugs, illegal possession of property, illegal employment, outstanding fines, traffic violations, etc.
As part of these operations, 586 vehicles were stopped for inspection overnight, and 730 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 40 inspections were carried out at premises to address illegal activities, resulting in twelve complaints.
During traffic stops, 286 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 10 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the citations issued, 156 were for speeding, and as part of the police investigations, 8 vehicles were impounded. A total of 328 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in 3 citations, as well as 2 preliminary drug tests with 2 positive results.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
