The government is considering keeping the old digital terrestrial television platform in operation for about two months to facilitate the transition to the new DVB-T2 technology.
Speaking on the “Morning Route” program, the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation, and Digital Policy, Nikodimos Damianou, said that technical confirmation that this is feasible is expected, adding that the signs are positive.
Mr. Damianou acknowledged that the scale of the problems that arose had not been anticipated, particularly in homes with old or faulty reception systems.
At the same time, he assured the public that they would continue to be kept informed and supported, while urging anyone who observes instances of profiteering to file complaints with the relevant authorities.
