There was a strong police presence and activity throughout Cyprus last night, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, twelve individuals were arrested for various offenses, including illegal residence in the Republic of Cyprus, illegal possession of drugs, driving under the influence of alcohol, public intoxication, and disorderly conduct.
As part of these operations, 724 vehicles were stopped for inspection overnight, and 924 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 76 inspections were carried out at premises to address illegal activities, resulting in 13 complaints.

During the traffic checks that were carried out, 319 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 15 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the citations issued, 113 were for speeding, and as part of the police investigations, 26 vehicles were impounded.
A total of 385 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in 34 citations, as well as 3 preliminary drug tests, all of which came back negative.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
