The Fire Department has been working nonstop over the past 24 hours due to the heavy rainfall in parts of Nicosia.
Specifically, the fire department responded to 35 incidents caused by heavy rainfall in the areas of Engomi, Makedonitissa, Strovolos, Lakatamia, and Agios Dometios.

According to a statement from the Service, the calls mainly involved pumping water from flooded basements, clearing storm drains, towing vehicles from flooded roads, as well as sparks from EAC power lines.

A tree also fell, damaging a parked vehicle; fortunately, no one was injured. The scene was subsequently handed over to the police and a crew from the Strovolos Municipality.
The Fire Department was assisted by two crews from the SUPPORT-CY volunteer group, while at the same time, crews from the Nicosia Water Authority were working to clear storm drains.
