With the help of a citizen who spotted him and notified the police, a 21-year-old man suspected of breaking into a store last night in Limassol was located and subsequently arrested. Upon locating the 21-year-old suspect, the property that had been stolen from the store earlier was also recovered, while the suspect is also being investigated for a second burglary at the same store, which occurred the previous night.
Specifically, shortly after 11:30 p.m. last night, a citizen contacted the police and reported that a suspect had broken into a café in Limassol and then entered an adjacent apartment building. Police officers went to the area and located the 21-year-old on the roof of the apartment building, along with two computers and other items, which the 21-year-old claimed belonged to him.
Since the 21-year-old failed to provide satisfactory explanations for his presence there and for the possession of the found property, and since he also refused to cooperate in verifying his identity, police officers proceeded to arrest him for crimes committed in flagrante delicto.
An investigation followed, which confirmed the break-in at the café, while the property previously found by police officers was identified as property stolen from the café during the break-in. Evidence also emerged against the 21-year-old regarding the burglary of the same café, which occurred the previous night, between May 19 and 20, during which, however, no property appears to have been stolen. The Limassol CID is investigating both cases.
