There was a strong police presence and activity last night throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, fourteen individuals were arrested for various offenses, including robbery, assault resulting in bodily injury, illegal possession of narcotics, illegal residence in the Republic, assault on a police officer, public intoxication, and disturbing the peace.
As part of these operations, 622 vehicles were stopped for inspection overnight, and 829 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 31 inspections were carried out at premises to address instances of lawbreaking.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 273 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 19 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the reports filed, 105 involved speeding, and 8 vehicles were impounded as part of police investigations.
A total of 165 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in 12 citations, as well as 4 preliminary drug tests, with three positive results.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
