The Fire Department is on full alert due to the severe weather conditions that have hit Cyprus.
According to the Fire Department’s Press Officer, Andreas Kettis, the Fire Service’s Unified Operations Coordination Center (ESKEPY) has received a total of 357 calls across Cyprus so far.
Of these, 332 were from the Nicosia district, while another 25 calls came from the remaining districts, with all incidents related to severe weather conditions.

Many of the incidents have already been resolved, while others have been logged and are being addressed on a priority basis.
The calls involve, among other things, fire and accident prevention, rescues, pumping rainwater from properties, moving materials, and protecting property.
A serious incident occurred in Agios Dometios, where a young child became trapped under an awning on the balcony of a fourth-floor apartment. The child was rescued by the Fire Department’s rescue teams, fortunately without sustaining any injuries.
The Fire Department is operating with a large number of crews, and, due to the increased demand, additional personnel have been called in.

Local authorities, District Self-Government Organizations (EOA), Civil Defense, the Police, the EAC, as well as organized volunteer groups.
