As part of the efforts by the Police and the Deputy Ministry of Migration to combat illegal employment and undeclared work, a total of 47 individuals were arrested yesterday.
Specifically, during a Cyprus-wide operation by the Aliens and Immigration Service, with the participation of officials from the Labor Inspection Department of the Ministry of Labor and Social Insurance, which took place yesterday afternoon at 16 restaurants, 47 individuals were identified and arrested for the offense of illegal employment. Nine of them were also arrested for the offense of illegal residence in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus.
In addition to the criminal proceedings, officials from the Labor Inspection Department imposed an administrative fine totaling €195,000 on the 16 employers for employing undeclared workers.
Police efforts to combat illegal residence in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus and illegal employment continue on a daily basis.
