The Limassol District Administration has so far received reports of 16 incidents of damage caused by the extreme weather conditions that struck the island last Saturday, Limassol District Administrator Michalis Michael told CNA.
According to Mr. Michael, “No serious damage was reported over the weekend except for one case in Kanto, where the roof of a livestock facility was blown off.”.
However, he continued, “from yesterday, Monday, through today, we’ve had a steady stream of incidents, and so far we’ve recorded 16 cases,” clarifying that most involve damage to roofs, such as tiles coming loose, solar heating systems, and water tanks, while two incidents involve damage to vehicles.
As he explained, for incidents involving damage to structural elements of a property, the District Administration is responsible for assessing the damage, while if the damage involves photovoltaic systems, plumbing systems, and cars, the Department of Electromechanical Services is responsible.
Noting that all incidents reported so far concern only communities within the District, Mr. Michael reminded everyone that the deadline for submitting the relevant application is September 7.
Those affected, he added, can contact the office by phone at 25806422 or via email at [email protected]
