A well-known doctor specializing in anesthesiology. She devoted herself for years to her work, which she loved. She continued to work even after cancer struck, and throughout the chemotherapy and radiation treatments she had to undergo.

She spoke openly about her long battle with cancer, and as she herself had stated, she never let her health struggles get the better of her.

“They tell me not to say it. I’m not afraid of death. When I get a checkup—like the preventive mammogram and all the other tests we do—I don’t assume everything will be fine. I mean, why shouldn’t it happen to me too?”
Emi Kasoulidou—wife of Ioannis Kasoulides, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus

The news of her death brought sorrow to her family, friends, and everyone who knew her.

“A distinguished scholar, a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, but above all, an active member of civil society, Emi Kasoulidi was always at the forefront of the struggle for a free, democratic, prosperous, and inclusive homeland. To her husband, her lifelong companion, Ioannis Kasoulides, her daughter Joanna, and all the members of her family, I offer my sincere condolences. We will remember her with love and respect.”
Nikos Christodoulides – President of the Republic

“It is with deep sorrow that we bid farewell to Emi Kasoulidou, a great doctor, but above all, a wonderful person. She fought her battle with dignity and strength and leaves behind a significant legacy and an invaluable contribution to humanity. Our sincere condolences go out to our dear friends Ioannis Kasoulidis, their daughter Joanna, and her entire family. Her memory, her humanity, and her contributions will remain alive forever.”
Anita Dimitriou – Speaker of the House/DISY

Her funeral will be held next Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Constantine and Helen Cemetery.
