Members of the Nicosia CID proceeded yesterday afternoon to arrest a 29-year-old man, by members of the Nicosia CID to facilitate investigations into three ongoing cases of copper theft that occurred between July 15 and 17, in the Nicosia District.
Specifically, a construction site employee in Strovolos reported to the police yesterday that copper from cables had been stolen from the site’s electrical substation. During the investigation of the case by members of the Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department, evidence emerged against a 29-year-old man, who was arrested shortly after 6:00 p.m. that same day pursuant to a court warrant.
During the investigation of the case, evidence was also secured against the 29-year-old regarding two other cases of copper theft from cables, which were committed between July 15 and 17, in the Nicosia District.
The 29-year-old is expected to appear today before the Nicosia District Court for the purpose of issuing a detention order against him.
