Traffic is a daily “headache” for the thousands of drivers in Nicosia.
The capital’s main thoroughfares are “choked” and the situation on Strovolos Avenue is particularly telling—that’s where reporter Eleni Fanari and the camera crew from the Alpha Kalimera show were.
As citizens told the camera, they choose to leave early to avoid traffic as much as possible, while the situation becomes chaotic if they are even five minutes late.
Watch what residents had to say:
“It’s the same story every day.”
“The situation is a nightmare. If I’m five minutes late, it takes me 1 hour and 15 minutes to get to work.”
“I try to avoid rush hour; if I’m five minutes late, my commute time changes dramatically.”
“In five minutes, no one will be leaving here. If you leave after 7:00, you’re done for—you’ll never make it to work.”
