Shocking revelations have emerged regarding the brutal murder of 22-year-old Shahriar Ahmed Emon from Bangladesh, whose body was found buried in a field in Kofinou, were presented before the Larnaca District Court, where the suspect—a fellow Bangladeshi of the same age as the victim—was brought this morning under tight security measures the suspect—a fellow Bangladeshi of the same age as the victim—for the heinous crime.
In the police affidavit, which was translated into the suspect’s native language, he reportedly claimed to the investigating magistrate that the victim had insulted him during their bus ride from Oroklini to Kofinou, telling him that he was poor and had come to Cyprus from the occupied territories. This appears to be the reason why the perpetrator took the 22-year-old’s life by stabbing him in the neck and back, after attempting to strangle him.
At the same time, the perpetrator was reportedly informed that the victim came from a wealthy family, which is why he “staged” a kidnapping, demanding a ransom of €35,000 from the 22-year-old’s father, who resides in Greece. To that end, he sent him text and voice messages threatening to remove his kidney.
The report of the 22-year-old’s disappearance was filed by his roommate, who told authorities that on the afternoon of June 12, 2026, the victim had left their residence in Oroklini around 6:30 p.m., saying he was going to start his first day of work at a factory in Kofinou.
Authorities are investigating the possibility that the perpetrator had an accomplice or accomplices and are therefore continuing their investigations and examinations at an intensive pace. It was stated in court that the suspect is expected to conduct a crime scene reconstruction and that additional witness statements will be taken.
