The death of Giorgos Tsalakos has “sent shockwaves and grief” through the journalism communities of Cyprus and Greece. In a statement, the Cyprus Journalists’ Union noted that “Giorgos Tsalakos was one of Cyprus’s most accomplished journalists.”
“He served Cypriot journalism in leadership roles, both in print and online media, and also served on the board of the public broadcaster. Giorgos Tsalakos’s legacy, especially in television journalism, will remain indelible for years to come. He was one of the key figures in shaping television journalism in Cyprus.
The Board of Directors of the Cyprus Journalists’ Union expresses its sorrow at the loss of G. Tsalakos and extends its sincere condolences to his family and those who admired his work. Those who served journalism under his guidance have nothing but praise for his journalistic vision and the gentleness with which he imparted it.
G. Tsalakos was a member of the Cyprus Journalists’ Union during his early days in journalism. But even later in his career, when he rose to leadership positions, he always remained conciliatory, cooperative, and approachable toward the organization.”
