A call for citizens to report centers and facilities where they encounter suspicious treatments that may not involve approved practices, as stated by Karolina Stylianou, a senior official at the Ministry of Health, speaking on the Alpha News program.

“In Cyprus, we have a legal framework whereby healthcare facilities, such as hospitals or day care centers, where there is no transfer of patients, are monitored and regulated according to very strict standards.”

Ms. Stylianou points out that it is possible to monitor both the equipment and the health services provided in nursing homes and day care centers.

Regarding the complaints filed by the Cyprus Nurses’ Association (PIS) against a center in Cyprus that was offering rejuvenation and wellness treatments, Ms. Stylianou maintains that the case dates back to 2022 and has been resolved following an on-site intervention by the Ministry of Health. “That center has been shut down; we also filed a complaint with the police,” she states.

When asked about the allegations made by Marinos Sotiriou, she states that she is not aware of the incident.

She urges citizens to file complaints and provide information about incidents that come to their attention.

“Sometimes citizens hesitate because ‘I don’t want to go file a complaint and get into trouble.’ We accept even anonymous reports, even information that someone may come across, which they may judge to involve procedures or medical practices that should not be performed in that particular facility or by those specific individuals.”

“I don’t think citizens should panic, but they should be cautious,” she emphasizes.

When asked whether there are treatments in the Republic of Cyprus similar to those provided by the private clinic in Kolonaki, Ms. Stylianou once again urges citizens to report any suspicions they may have.
