Authorities continue to investigate the mystery behind the explosion at a home in Sotira, where a 30-year-old man was injured, keeping all possibilities open.

As a reminder, yesterday, Friday, around 9:30 p.m., the police were notified of an explosion in the garage of an individual known to the authorities.

Officers immediately went to the scene, where they found the 30-year-old man injured outside a metal storage shed.

His condition was deemed extremely serious from the outset, and he was transported to Nicosia General Hospital, where he underwent surgery and remains hospitalized in extremely critical condition.

And while the 30-year-old is fighting for his life, authorities are trying to unravel the mystery of the case.

Two possibilities are being considered: The explosion may have been caused while he was handling explosive material. A second scenario that has not been ruled out is that of a criminal act, with authorities even considering the possibility that this may be a case of attempted murder.

Police bomb disposal experts were also called to the scene of the explosion.

The victim, however, has been known to the police in the past for various criminal acts.
