The fire broke out on the terrace of a second-floor apartment in Protaras.
According to a police report, the fire broke out around 2:15 p.m. in an apartment complex on Protaras Avenue, with police and firefighters rushing to the scene.
The complex was evacuated in a timely manner without anyone being endangered, and, as the fire department’s spokesperson reported earlier, a person with mobility issues was assisted to safety by firefighters.
The fire was extinguished by the Fire Department, but it caused extensive damage to two apartments and minor damage to four others.
According to initial investigations, the fire appears to have started on the balcony of an apartment on the second floor of the complex, authorities report, and there are no indications that the fire was set maliciously.
The investigation is ongoing.
