A woman, a citizen of the Republic of Cyprus, was reportedly arrested yesterday, Saturday at the Turkish Cypriot checkpoint on the Agios Dometios roadblock while crossing from the occupied to the free areas, because her identification details had not been entered into the pseudo-state’s system during her crossing the previous day.
According to a statement made to CNA by a spokesperson for the Police Communications Branch, the woman’s 47-year-old husband, who is also a Cypriot citizen, went yesterday, Saturday to the Agios Dometios police station and reported that when his 45-year-old wife exited the Agios Dometios checkpoint, she “was arrested” by the occupying authorities because, upon her departure from the occupied areas the previous day, Friday, she had not undergone an identity check.
The Police of the Republic of Cyprus have informed the bi-communal Technical Committee on Crime and Criminality of the matter.
It should be noted that there are no related reports in the Turkish Cypriot media. It is not known whether the 45-year-old woman will appear today before a “court” in the occupied territories.
