The meteorological service has issued a yellow warning for severe weather conditions for today, Friday. The warning will be in effect from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and according to it:
ISOLATED HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO AFFECT THE REGION AT INTERVALS, INITIALLY THE WESTERN HALF OF THE ISLAND AND LATER, POSSIBLY, THE REMAINING AREAS AS WELL. Hail is expected during the storm, while winds will shift and intensify. RAINFALL IS EXPECTED TO EXCEED 35 MILLIMETERS PER HOUR IN SOME AREAS.
More specifically, an unstable air mass will affect the region through Monday.
Today, the weather will start out partly cloudy with isolated showers, mainly in the west and north, and will gradually become mostly cloudy by the afternoon, with local showers and isolated thunderstorms. Hail is also possible in thunderstorm areas. Winds will be mainly southwesterly to westerly, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort, and temporarily, in windward areas, up to strong 5 Beaufort. The sea will be slightly rough. Temperatures will reach around 28 degrees inland, on the southern and eastern coasts, around 26 degrees on the rest of the coasts, and 17 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.
Tonight, the weather will be partly cloudy at times, with a chance of isolated showers, mainly along the coast. Winds will be northwesterly to northeasterly, and southeasterly along the northern coast; they will be light, at 3 Beaufort, and the sea will be calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will drop to 15 degrees inland, around 18 degrees along the coast, and 8 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.
Over the weekend and on Monday, the weather will be mostly cloudy at times, with local showers and isolated thunderstorms expected at intervals. Temperatures are not expected to change significantly and will remain slightly below average for this time of year over the three-day period.
