A fire that broke out on Saturday morning in a two-story house in Kiti, in the Larnaca district, caused extensive damage to the living room of the house, while the owner suffered respiratory problems from smoke inhalation.
According to the Fire Department, a call was received at 10:40 a.m. reporting a fire in a two-story house.
The fire initially broke out in a shrine and then spread to the living room, where it caused extensive damage to equipment, furniture, electrical wiring, and a quantity of clothing.
The heat and smoke also damaged the paintwork both inside and outside the residence.
The fire was extinguished by the owner before the Fire Department arrived, with the help of neighbors, who used a garden hose.
Firefighters proceeded to fully extinguish any remaining hot spots and ventilate the premises.
An ambulance was called to the scene to assist the owner, who was having difficulty breathing due to smoke inhalation.
Two fire trucks were dispatched to respond to the incident.
