There was a strong police presence and activity throughout Cyprus last night, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, nine individuals were arrested for various offenses, including illegal possession of property, theft by an employee, illegal stay in the Republic, assault on a police officer and resisting lawful arrest, setting a fire in the open, illegal possession of narcotics, and failure to appear in court.
As part of these operations, 547 drivers and 185 passengers were stopped and checked overnight. At the same time, 34 property inspections were conducted to address illegal activities, resulting in one complaint.
During the traffic checks carried out, 332 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and six cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the citations issued, 128 were for speeding, and six vehicles were impounded as part of the police investigations.
A total of 188 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in eight citations.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
