There was a strong police presence and activity throughout Cyprus last night, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and increasing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, nine individuals were arrested for various offenses, including theft, receiving stolen goods, illegal possession of drugs, illegal residence in the Republic, and others.
As part of these operations, 602 drivers and 139 passengers were stopped and checked overnight. At the same time, 40 inspections were carried out at premises to combat criminal activity, resulting in one complaint.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 249 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 10 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the citations issued, 92 were for speeding, and as part of the police investigations, 4 vehicles were impounded. Fifty-eight breathalyzer tests were conducted, none of which resulted in a citation, as well as five preliminary drug tests, with one positive result.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
