After testing positive for driving under the influence of alcohol, with readings of 139 μg%ml and 82 μg%ml, were identified as two drivers involved in separate traffic collisions yesterday in the Nicosia district, resulting in their arrest for police investigation. A third driver, who was also involved in a traffic collision yesterday in the Famagusta district, refused to undergo a breathalyzer test, resulting in her arrest for police investigation, while the police proceeded to suspend her driver’s license.
The first traffic collision occurred around 5:00 p.m. yesterday, when, under circumstances currently under investigation by the police, a 43-year-old truck driver lost control of his vehicle, which veered off course and struck a fence and the wall of a house, on the right side of the road, in an area of the Nicosia district. The collision also caused damage to the parking area of a second adjacent residence.
Members of the police, specifically the Nicosia Traffic Police, visited the scene to investigate and administered a breathalyzer test to the 43-year-old driver, which registered 139 μg/%ml, far exceeding the legal limit of 22. The 43-year-old was arrested for the offense of driving under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody for further police investigation.
The Nicosia Traffic Police Department is continuing its investigation.

The second traffic collision in the Nicosia district occurred shortly after 8:30 p.m. yesterday, when, under circumstances currently under investigation, the car driven by a 50-year-old man collided with the car driven by a 40-year-old man.
Officers from the local Peristerona Police Station and the Morphou Traffic Police visited the scene to investigate. During a breathalyzer test administered to both drivers, the 50-year-old tested positive, with a reading of 82 μg/%ml instead of the permitted limit of 22, resulting in his arrest for further police investigation.
The Peristerona Police Station is continuing its investigation.
In the Famagusta district, on a road in the Protaras area of Paralimni, around 8:00 p.m., under circumstances that are under investigation, a car driven by a 43-year-old woman collided with a car driven by a 42-year-old man.

Police officers arrived at the scene to investigate, and the 42-year-old man took a breathalyzer test, which showed a reading of zero. The 43-year-old woman, who was showing signs of intoxication, refused to provide a sample for a breathalyzer test, resulting in her arrest for further police investigation, while the police also suspended her driver’s license.
The 43-year-old was taken to the Paralimni Police Station, where she was also arrested for the flagrant offense of causing a disturbance in a public place. She was released from custody shortly before 11:30 p.m. and will be summoned at a later date.
