The police arrested a 42-year-old man yesterday after he was found driving a stolen car; a small amount of drugs was also found in his possession.
Specifically, around 5 p.m. yesterday, officers from the Ledra Substation signaled a driver traveling on a road in Nicosia to pull over for a check. However, the driver accelerated and attempted to flee. The police officers pursued him. At one point, the suspect exited his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, but was apprehended by the officers.
A search of his vehicle revealed that it had been reported stolen on August 27, 2026, in the Famagusta district, while the license plates on the car belonged to another vehicle and had also been reported as stolen. Furthermore, following a search, a small amount of cannabis was found inside the vehicle and seized.
The 42-year-old driver was arrested for offenses committed in flagrante delicto and taken into custody to facilitate the investigation.
The Omorfita Police Station, the YKAN (Nicosia District Unit), and the Famagusta CID are continuing their investigation.
