Police arrested a 34-year-old man last night as part of an investigation into traffic offenses.
Specifically, around midnight, police officers conducting a motorized patrol in the Paphos district signaled a driver to pull over for a check, but the driver accelerated in an attempt to flee. The police officers pursued the vehicle, which continued to drive recklessly and dangerously. At some point along the road, the driver lost control of his vehicle, causing it to veer into the yard of a house, where it came to a stop.
The 34-year-old was arrested for the flagrant offenses of reckless and dangerous driving, failure to comply with a police officer’s signal, driving without a license, and driving without insurance. He was then subjected to a breathalyzer test, which showed a final reading of 76 μg% instead of 22 μg%, which is the maximum limit permitted by law.
The Paphos Traffic Police are continuing their investigation.
