The defendant had shot his wife twice with a hunting rifle, seriously injuring her. The woman, who was 46 at the time, was hospitalized. The couple has since divorced.

The defendant admitted that he shot the victim and that he called the police, also stating that he regretted his actions. He cooperated with law enforcement and led them to the crime scene.

It was reported in court that the perpetrator paid compensation to the victim and her family, totaling €130,000 to her, €10,000 to her attorney, and €21,000 to their minor daughter, while also transferring assets, including an apartment registered in the name of their minor daughter and two additional apartments for which he pledged not to assert any rights. An affidavit from the complainant was also submitted, stating that she has been fully compensated and has no further claims.
