Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) are investigating a case of unnatural death, and so far there has been no allegation of medical negligence on the part of the family of the unfortunate child.

According to information received by KYPE, the investigators’ inquiries are continuing intensively, and statements are being taken from the child’s family and those involved in this tragic case. The exact cause of the child’s death are expected to be determined by the results of toxicological and histopathological examinations of samples taken from his remains; for this reason, investigators are expected to request that these tests be expedited. Once the investigation is complete, the case file will be sent to the Legal Service for further action.

The child had been diagnosed with gastroenteritis a few days earlier and had developed a fever. According to the complaint being investigated by the police, the child was prescribed medication by a pediatrician. However, his condition worsened, so his parents took him to Limassol Hospital, where, despite the doctors’ efforts to save him, he passed away.
