There was a strong police presence and activity last night throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols carried out at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, seven individuals were arrested for various offenses, including, car theft and illegal possession of property, illegal stay in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, speeding, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
As part of these operations, 460 drivers and 109 passengers were stopped and checked overnight. At the same time, 46 premises were inspected to address violations, resulting in four complaints.
During the traffic checks carried out, 304 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 20 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the citations issued, 97 were for speeding, and six vehicles were impounded as part of police investigations.
A total of 75 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in six citations, while preliminary drug tests yielded one positive result.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, featuring an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
