There was a strong police presence and activity last night throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, ensuring public order, and increasing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, seven individuals were arrested for the offenses of illegal residence in the Republic and driving under the influence of alcohol.
As part of these operations, 825 vehicles were stopped for inspection overnight, and 1,166 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 64 inspections were carried out at premises to address violations, resulting in nine complaints.
During traffic stops, 303 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and 15 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the citations issued, 114 were for speeding, and 14 vehicles were impounded as part of police investigations.
A total of 365 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in 36 citations, as well as two preliminary drug tests, one of which was positive.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
