A fire broke out in a home in Lakatamia due to a forgotten cooking pot; the resident was taken to the hospital after inhaling smoke while attempting to extinguish the fire.
Specifically, at 4:50 p.m. on Wednesday, a call was received reporting a fire caused by a forgotten cooking utensil in a home in Lakatamia, in the Nicosia district.
The Lakatamia Fire Station responded with two vehicles, and firefighters carried out the final extinguishing, inspected the premises, and ventilated the area, as the resident had attempted to extinguish the fire before the Fire Department arrived.
During her attempt, she inhaled smoke and was transported by ambulance to Nicosia General Hospital for treatment. The fire was caused by a cooking pot left unattended on a lit stove and damaged part of the kitchen equipment.
