There was a strong police presence and activity last night throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, six individuals were arrested for various offenses, including illegal possession of drugs, breaking and entering, theft, malicious damage, and failure to comply with court orders.
As part of these operations, 638 vehicles were stopped for inspection overnight, and 796 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 39 inspections were carried out at premises to address instances of non-compliance, during which no complaints were filed.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 363 complaints were filed regarding various traffic violations, and 13 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.

Of the citations issued, 138 were for speeding, while 12 vehicles were impounded as part of police investigations. In addition, 169 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in five citations, as well as two preliminary drug tests, both of which yielded positive results.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
