Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman denied the rumor circulating on social media on Monday night regarding the death of the Turkish Cypriot who was attacked in Ayia Napa, assuring that the man is still alive, although his condition remains serious.

In a post on social media, Mr. Erhurman stated that, following the reports that had circulated, he had contacted the Turkish Cypriot co-chair of the Intercommunal Technical Committee on Health, “Deputy Minister of Health” Duriye Deren Oygur.

As the Turkish Cypriot leader reported, Ms. Oygur contacted the hospital in the free areas and, after consulting with two different officials, informed him that the man is still alive, although his condition remains serious.

Mr. Erhurman called on Turkish Cypriots to trust the announcements issued by the relevant “authorities” rather than unconfirmed information circulating on social media.
