The wave of arrests began after the victim gave a statement to the authorities in the presence of a parent and the lawyer representing him. At the same time, the police have in their possession the infamous video, as well as footage from closed-circuit surveillance cameras installed in the area where the brutal beating took place.
In their statements, the youths involved claimed that the incident was caused by personal disputes between the victim and the suspects over a girl.
