There was a strong police presence and activity throughout Cyprus last night, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and increasing the public’s sense of security.
These preventive police operations resulted in the arrest of five individuals for various offenses, including illegal residence in the Republic of Cyprus, illegal possession of drugs, assaulting a police officer, and others.
As part of these operations, 456 vehicles were stopped for inspection overnight, and 599 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 32 inspections were carried out at premises to combat criminal activity, resulting in five complaints.
During the traffic checks that were carried out, 263 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and ten cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the citations issued, 100 were for speeding, and seven vehicles were impounded as part of the police investigations. In addition, 140 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in four citations.
Law enforcement operations aimed at crime prevention and suppression continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
