Another body was recovered yesterday, Thursday, from the wreck of the ship that sank off the coast of Kyrenia, at a depth of 550 meters. The victim was a woman approximately 50–55 years old. The death toll from the deadly shipwreck has now reached 10, while 18 people remain missing.

Meanwhile, during yesterday’s recovery operation, rescuers spotted what appeared to be remains, and efforts are now focused on that specific location, where they will continue their search today. However, the wreck lies at a depth of 554 meters, which has made the entire process difficult and prevented them from moving any faster.

Search operations continued yesterday for the fifth day and resumed today at first light.

After the sea surface was scanned by aircraft and naval vessels, attention has now shifted to the wreck, with the deployment of a remotely operated underwater vehicle and the use of an advanced sonar system.

Two Turkish Navy deep-water rescue ships, the TCG Işın and the TCG Alemdar, are conducting dive searches of the sunken catamaran, which has been located at a depth of 550 meters.

Using thermal cameras that transmit images in real time, images are being captured to locate the 18 missing persons, who are believed to be trapped inside the vessel. The operations are being conducted with extreme caution as visibility is limited.

It should be noted that during this difficult operation, a body was initially recovered that belonged to one of the two citizens of the pseudo-state who had been on the list of missing persons.

As hopes fade, the anguish and anger of the relatives at the port of Kyrenia are growing. Despite the high temperatures, the families remain under the tents, waiting for news about their loved ones.
