A fire broke out on Saturday afternoon on the ground floor of a residence in Strovolos, with the Fire Department identifying a forgotten cooking utensil as the likely cause.
According to the Fire Department’s Press Officer, Andreas Kettis, the Fire Department responded to a fire at 3:13 p.m. on the ground floor of a private residence, a two-story building with a basement, in Strovolos.
No one was endangered by the fire; however, extensive property damage was caused in the kitchen area. The entire interior of the house was affected by the heat and smoke.
The fire appears to have started from a cooking utensil that had been left unattended.
Firefighters used breathing apparatus and water hoses to extinguish the fire, followed by ventilation of the premises.
