A message in English, which stated that there was a bomb inside a piece of luggage on the aircraft that would explode in 20 minutes, triggered the activation of standard security protocols at Larnaca Airport and the grounding of the flight to Rome, according to KYPE.

According to the same reports, passengers are undergoing security checks again, while the standard security procedures are currently underway.

The aircraft, carrying approximately 190 passengers, was scheduled to depart at 11:10 a.m. for Rome.

All passengers have disembarked from the aircraft, taking their personal belongings with them, and have returned to the airport terminal for screening.

Meanwhile, the unloading of the luggage that was inside the aircraft has begun, and it is being inspected by specially trained dogs. Once this inspection is complete, the luggage is expected to pass through the X-ray screening system again.

This will be followed by a search of the aircraft cabin, and, once all required procedures have been completed, provided it is determined that the threat is not genuine, the boarding process is expected to resume.
