On August 12, 2026, officials from the Customs Department, as part of their routine inspections to enforce the Green Line Regulation at the Agios Dometios Crossing Point, stopped a vehicle with registration plates from the Republic of Cyprus that was being driven by a foreign national.
During the inspection of the vehicle, 245 kilograms of bovine hides and offal were found in its cargo area, in violation of the Green Line Regulation, which expressly prohibits the transport of animals or animal products from the occupied areas to the free areas of the Republic of Cyprus.
