The YKAN detected and seized a quantity of cannabis with a total gross weight of seven kilograms in Larnaca. A 30-year-old man was arrested to facilitate the investigation.

As part of the YKAN’s cooperation with agencies in other countries as well as the Cyprus Customs Department, following an evaluation and analysis of intelligence, two postal packages were identified that had arrived in Cyprus from abroad. Subsequent examinations revealed that the two packages contained a quantity of cannabis with a total gross weight of seven kilograms.

Following police investigations, evidence was gathered against a 30-year-old man, who was arrested today pursuant to a court warrant and taken into custody.

The 30-year-old’s arrest was followed by a search of his apartment, during which the following items were located and seized:

• A quantity of cannabis with a total weight of 10 grams
• A quantity of cocaine with a total weight of 10 grams
• A grinder with traces of cannabis
• Drug paraphernalia
• A precision scale, and
• Two partially smoked cigarettes containing cannabis.

The YKAN (Larnaca District Unit) is investigating the case.
