The unspeakable tragedy that occurred on Sunday afternoon in Xylofagou has caused shock and deep sorrow; there, two young siblings, aged eight and ten, were found dead inside their parents’ car, which was parked outside their family home.
Ambulances and members of the British Bases Police rushed to the scene immediately. The two children were transported to the hospital, where the doctors on duty confirmed their deaths.
According to information so far from Alpha correspondent Katerina Ioannou, the two children were reportedly left sleeping inside the vehicle, though the circumstances under which this occurred have not yet been officially clarified.

Investigators are examining all possibilities, with initial evidence pointing the investigation toward the possibility of asphyxiation, combined with the particularly high temperatures at the time.
The British Bases Police have cordoned off the area outside the family’s home and are conducting extensive examinations, collecting evidence and taking statements in order to determine how the two young children came to be left inside the vehicle and exactly what led up to the tragedy.
The investigation is in full swing, and according to reports, depending on the findings of the investigation, arrests cannot be ruled out.
