An alarm was triggered on Monday morning at the KSD due to the capsizing of a rowing boat carrying a total of 21 people.
According to a related announcement, on September 28, 2026, at 11:15 a.m., the KSD activated the National Search and Rescue Plan “NEARCHOS” to rescue 21 people in the Dasoudi area off Limassol, after the rowing boat they were on capsized.

To carry out the search-and-rescue operation, helicopters from the Police Air Operations Unit and the 460th Search and Rescue Squadron of the National Guard, vessels from the Port and Maritime Police, a boat from the Limassol District Administration’s Lifeguard Service, personnel from the Limassol Police Directorate, as well as ambulances from the OKYPY Ambulance Service.
The individuals were brought ashore, and after ambulance paramedics determined that they were in good health, they were released.
