Trees fell due to strong winds and severe weather in the Athalassa and Pedagogical Academy National Forest Parks.

According to the Forestry Department, the Athalassa Forest Firefighting Corps, led by a Forest Service Officer, is working to remove fallen trees and secure the park areas.

Public Works Department on Standby to Address Issues Caused by Severe Weather
Its crews remain on standby in all districts to provide immediate assistance wherever and whenever requested, the Department of Public Works stated in an announcement.
As part of the efforts to address the problems caused by severe weather events, the Department of Public Works reports that it has been assisting “from the very beginning” with crews and machinery to clear roads, remove debris, and restore safe traffic conditions.

So far, the Department’s crews have responded, among other locations, to a small underpass in the Municipality of Idali, the Nicosia Ring Road, and the Rizoelia roundabout, he adds.
He notes that the work is being carried out in cooperation and coordination with the Police, the Fire Department, the District Local Government Organizations, the District Administrations, and the Local Authorities.
The Department’s crews remain on standby in all districts so they can provide immediate assistance wherever and whenever requested, the announcement concludes.
