The 40-year-old burglar who was caught red-handed at a jewelry store in Limassol is known to the authorities.
As reported by Alpha’s Limassol correspondent Erica Kavazi on the program “Alpha Kalimera,” the 40-year-old Greek Cypriot is known to the police for similar offenses.
The jewelry store in question has been closed for the past six years.
It is recalled that the 40-year-old was located and arrested by members of the OPE around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, following a report of a break-in and a person inside the premises.
Burglary tools were found in the 40-year-old’s possession, as well as gold jewelry, for which he failed to provide satisfactory explanations, while subsequent investigations revealed that the jewelry found in the 40-year-old’s possession had been stolen from the jewelry store following a burglary committed in the preceding days, specifically between September 17 and 18. The burglary had been reported to the police on September 18.
The 40-year-old is expected to be brought before a court for the issuance of a detention order.
The Limassol Criminal Investigation Department is continuing its investigation.
