Hadassah Medical Center Limassol responds: We have never performed hemodialysis on a patient

The center's position in a news article regarding the number of doctors, hemodialysis machines, and telediagnosis

It operates legally, with the necessary licenses and approvals for its current operation as a medical and diagnostic imaging center, says Hadassah Medical Center Limassol in a statement providing clarifications following a report in the newspaper “Politis” that referred to aspects of its operations, while noting “misleading impressions that require immediate correction.”

Specifically, regarding the article’s claim that the center is “under scrutiny by the Ministry following complaints,” notes that “no specific complaint is pending, nor have we been informed of any findings that call into question the Center’s current lawful operation.”

He also points out that the news article presents an incomplete picture regarding the Center’s staffing, due to the mention of three physicians, while, as he clarifies, “a list of 15 doctors and two clinical dietitians had already been provided, and it had been explained that an additional list of 15 doctors is under discussion with Hadassah, though the approvals have not yet been finalized.”

The announcement states that, on the center’s part, “the reporter was also informed by phone that the Center employs five experienced, licensed nurses and an additional seven physical therapy and exercise professionals,” and that “information had also been provided regarding the physical therapists’ participation in the General Health System (GESY),” while “this additional staffing was not mentioned in the article.”

He adds that “it was further explained that an additional list of 15 doctors is currently under discussion with Hadassah; these doctors have not been announced because the relevant approvals have not yet been finalized. We do not present them as already-enrolled collaborators.”

Regarding the article’s claim that “they provide treatment over the phone,” the center refers to a “misleading portrayal of the specialized second medical opinion requested by the local doctor”. Regarding the second-opinion process, the statement clarifies that “the local physician evaluates the medical record and the clinical presentation. If they determine that a specialized second opinion is warranted and the patient wishes to proceed, he or she prepares a medical report and poses specific clinical questions to the appropriate specialist at Hadassah Hospitals in Jerusalem.” It also states that “this specific procedure does not involve remote guidance of a medical procedure at our facility by a doctor located in Israel.”

It further notes “an attempt to create confusion regarding the current lawful, licensed operation of the medical and radiology center.” The statement notes that “we had also clarified our position that a separate license to operate a medical center is not required for these specific current activities, beyond the applicable professional and specific requirements, and that the required license for the radiology department has been secured.”

It is noted that “Hadassah Medical Center Limassol operates legally, with the required licenses and approvals for its current operation as a medical and radiology center” and that “its potential upgrade to an outpatient care facility constitutes a separate development process and requires additional licensing. It does not negate its current lawful operation, nor does it imply that it is awaiting a license for the current services covered by its existing framework.”

The center’s position is also unequivocal regarding “allegations of providing treatment, while no plasmapheresis was performed on a patient at the Center,” as stated in the announcement.

It is emphasized that “no plasmapheresis was performed on a patient at Hadassah Medical Center Limassol” and that “the equipment was not concealed,” since “on August 26, 2026, as part of the submission of the final application for the imaging center’s licensing, a detailed inventory was submitted to the Ministry of Health, which explicitly listed the hemodialysis system and the ozone therapy unit.” It should be noted, however, that “the purchase of equipment for a planned service does not constitute proof that the service was provided. Suspicions cannot substitute for concrete findings.”

Finally, the announcement states that “the minimum requirement is an immediate change to the misleading headlines and a correction to the introduction, the relevant sections of the article, and its public preview,” and that “the correction must be made at the same link that is already circulating, with a clear note indicating the changes, as well as in the posts on the newspaper’s social media accounts promoting the story.”

In conclusion, it is stated that “Hadassah Medical Center Limassol accepts scrutiny and responds with facts,” while at the same time “demands the same accuracy and responsibility from those who inform the public. It will not tolerate any publications that, through inaccuracies and insinuations, unjustifiably damage its good name and reputation.”
