Police made a third arrest yesterday in connection with a case involving the theft and illegal use of bank cards. The suspect is a 25-year-old man against whom a court arrest warrant was outstanding.
The 25-year-old was spotted yesterday morning driving his car on the Limassol–Nicosia highway. He was stopped by members of the Traffic Police Headquarters (OPOD) and arrested to facilitate the investigation.
Following a search, four checks, three cell phones, and eight bank cards belonging to other individuals were found in his possession and confiscated. Additionally, during a search of his residence in the Nicosia district, a cell phone and 520 packages of soft drinks and water were found and seized.
The 25-year-old is expected to appear today before the Nicosia District Court for the purpose of issuing a detention order against him.
It should be noted that two other individuals, aged 29 and 18, are currently in custody in connection with the same case.
The two were arrested on September 29, 2026, as part of an investigation into complaints filed with the police regarding the unauthorized use of bank cards to make purchases via an online application.
Yesterday, the two suspects appeared before the Nicosia District Court, which issued an order renewing their detention for a period of eight days.
All three suspects are being investigated for the offenses of obtaining goods under false pretenses, illegal interception, electronic data theft, and other offenses.
The Financial Crime Investigation Unit of the Nicosia CID is continuing its investigation.
