This family tragedy, we should note, occurred around 6:35 a.m. on Tuesday outside a school in Zakaki, specifically outside the Agios Spyridonas High School, while the two were in the 46-year-old woman’s car.

The woman is currently being treated at Limassol General Hospital, where, according to the police, she underwent surgery. The scene was cordoned off immediately, with a large police presence conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

The car was found stopped on the road, next to the 55-year-old’s parked vehicle.

“Around 6:35 this morning, the police received a report that a serious incident had occurred in a car outside a school. Speaking on the Alpha News program, the Assistant Police Director of Operations, Lefteris Kyriakou, said that the area where the incident occurred corresponds to the route the woman was taking to get to work.

In fact, when the woman was found injured, she was outside the vehicle, as witnesses reported that she had attempted to get out before being shot by the 55-year-old man.

When asked if the police officer had a history of violence or psychological problems, Mr. Kyriakou replied in the negative.

Authorities are currently examining and evaluating witness statements and information regarding the case in an effort to determine what led the 55-year-old to commit the crime and take his own life.

Meanwhile, a statement given to the media by a driver who was passing by the scene at the time has caused a stir. As he said, he saw the two people inside the vehicle shouting, and after he stopped, he saw a man in a police uniform holding the woman by the throat. When he asked the man to stop, the man told him to leave, as he said, while pointing a gun at him. Then, according to the witness, the man turned the gun on the woman and shot her, after which he shot himself.
