Today, the rough seas in the area may have subsided, but it has left behind an unspeakable tragedy, with Dimis Mavropoulos as its victim, who was found dead on a rocky outcrop in the Agioi Anargyroi area.
Authorities are closely examining the 77-year-old businessman’s final dramatic moments aboard his boat.

His wife and daughter jumped into the sea and were rescued by the Coast Guard.
Witnesses told Alpha that Mavropoulos was at the helm trying to steer the boat away from the rocks while the waves were crashing violently against theyacht. And in one of the most dramatic moments, according to a witness, the 77-year-old was calling for help, frantically gesturing with his hands.
The police are investigating the causes of the accident. A sudden death case is being investigated, and authorities are examining whether the businessman’s boat was anchored at the site. Statements were taken from the owners of the other two boats as well as from eyewitnesses. The Fisheries Department also conducted an investigation at the scene with the assistance of divers.

“Since we arrived here this morning, we have determined that there is no oil pollution. We’ve brought in divers to map the seabed so we can see if there’s a tank down there with oil trapped inside.”
Parts of the engines have been located on the seabed, including the fuel tanks, which are empty.
The wreckage of the vessels remains on the seabed. The process of raising them is expected to begin in the coming days.
