A barometric low centered south of Crete is moving northeast and is expected to affect the island starting tomorrow afternoon. There may be some light dust in the air.
Tonight, the weather will initially be mostly clear, but increased cloud cover will gradually develop. Winds will gradually become downslope, light, at 3 Beaufort, and the sea will remain calm to slightly choppy. Temperatures will drop to around 19 degrees inland, around 22 degrees along the coast, and around 18 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.
Tomorrow, the weather will be generally partly cloudy and at times mostly cloudy, while around midday and afterward, clouds will build up, bringing isolated showers and isolated thunderstorms, mainly in the mountains, inland, and in northern areas. Hail is possible during thunderstorms. Winds in the morning will be variable, light, 3 Beaufort, gradually becoming mainly southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort. During a thunderstorm, however, the winds will pick up and become variable. The sea will be generally calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will reach around 34 degrees inland, around 30 on the western coast, around 32 along the rest of the coast, and around 26 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.
Tomorrow night, the weather will be mostly cloudy and will gradually worsen, as local showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected, initially in the west and gradually spreading to the rest of the island. Hail is expected during thunderstorms. These conditions, particularly in coastal areas, may be intense or even prolonged. Winds will be southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort. During thunderstorms, however, the winds will shift and intensify, with stronger gusts. The sea in the east will be calm to slightly rough, but along the rest of the coast it will gradually become slightly rough.
On Friday, the weather will be mostly cloudy, with occasional local showers and isolated thunderstorms expected. Hail is expected during thunderstorms, and winds are expected to strengthen and shift.
On Saturday and Sunday, the weather in most parts of the island will be mostly clear with temporary increases in cloud cover; however, around noon and later in the mountainous and inland areas, developing clouds are expected to bring isolated showers or even thunderstorms.
Temperatures on Friday will drop, falling below seasonal averages, however, by Sunday they will rise gradually to return to levels close to the seasonal average.
