The Meteorological Service has issued a yellow warning for extremely high temperatures in Cyprus.
The warning will be in effect from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, with temperatures reaching around 40 degrees in inland areas.

A seasonal low-pressure system is affecting the region.
Today, the weather will be mostly clear, though initially there will be locally increased low-level cloud cover and light fog or mist inland, in the south, and in the east. Gradually, clouds developing in the afternoon may bring isolated showers in the mountains. Winds will be mainly southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort, and will gradually become moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be slightly rough and, in the afternoon, locally rough. Temperatures will reach 40 degrees inland, around 33 on the western and northern coasts, around 36 on the rest of the coasts, and 30 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.
Tonight, the weather will be mostly clear, but in the west, there will be periods of increased low cloud cover. During the early morning hours, patchy fog or mist may form, mainly in the southeast and inland. Winds will gradually become downslope, light, at 3 Beaufort. The sea will be somewhat choppy. Temperatures will drop to around 24 degrees in inland areas and along the coast, and to 20 degrees in the higher mountainous regions.
On Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, the weather will be mostly clear, though in the afternoon there will be temporary increases in cloud cover, mainly in the mountains.
Temperatures through Tuesday will not change significantly and will remain slightly above average.
