The Meteorological Service has issued a yellow warning for high temperatures for today, Wednesday.
The warning will take effect at 1:30 p.m. and will remain in effect until 4:00 p.m.
The maximum temperature inland will reach around 40 degrees Celsius.
Today, after the local low cloud cover or light fog clears along the coast and in the east, the weather will be generally clear; however, in the afternoon, locally increased cloud cover in the mountains may bring isolated showers. Winds will initially be variable and light, at 3 Beaufort, gradually shifting to mainly southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort, and temporarily along the southern and eastern coasts, up to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will reach around 40 degrees inland, around 32 on the western coast, around 34 on the rest of the coast, and around 29 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.
Tonight, the weather will be mostly clear, although locally increased low cloud cover will be observed at times. Later, during the early morning hours, patchy fog or mist is expected to form locally, particularly inland and in eastern regions. Winds will be mainly downslope, light, at 3 Beaufort, and the sea will remain calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will drop to around 23 degrees inland, around 24 on the coast, and around 22 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.
On Thursday and Friday, the weather will be mostly clear, but local cloud cover in the mountains in the afternoon may bring isolated showers or even thunderstorms.
On Saturday, a weather system moving in from the north that will temporarily affect the region is expected to bring localized rain and isolated thunderstorms.
Temperatures are not expected to change significantly through Friday, remaining above average, however, on Saturday they will drop noticeably and will be below normal levels for this time of year.
